Monaco Ocean Awareness Conference 2022
Our annual observance for the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development 2O21-2030 will bring together stakeholders from various sectors in an effort to form partnerships to protect and revitalize our oceans. This will be a two-day conference both in person and virtually that will take place at the Monaco Oceanographic Museum.
Our invited Guests of Honor are Prince Albert II of Monaco and Dr. Sylvia Earle, First Female Chief Scientist of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This is an opportunity for ocean experts to share the importance of education, science, research, and innovative technology to restore the health of our oceans. We have invited ocean explorers, scientists, filmmakers, the private sector, leaders of national and local governments.
We will strive to seek action solutions with intergenerational engagement while highlighting methods of monitoring areas of vital concern such as the crise with biodiversity, plastic pollution, deep sea mining, the rising coastal sea levels, the impact on coral reefs and the changing Arctic due to the shifts in the ocean’s temperature.
The official program will have discussions, interactive workshop dialogues, exhibits, film screenings, music, live performances, Virtual Reality (VR) and 360 experiences. Our conference will host 300 guests in person with a global virtual audience.
